Pots n Pans Cooking Studio

We had a fantastic time: from the wet market tour to the cooking classes, we learnt a lot about the Hong Kong culture. The cooking studio is top-notch: it was a perfect playground for the 4 adults. The host was just perfect: from the tour preparation -through clear communication through Whatsapp- to tailoring the dishes so that my parents can find the ingredients when back in France.We highly recommend this experience. - Nicolas (5/5)

I didn't think I'd be able to do this cooking class because Bill usually only takes couples or groups, not solo travelers, so I appreciated his willingness to be flexible. As soon as [we met up] he started loading my brain with information -- in a good way! It started with lots of facts and stories about the city on the way to the wet market. The market was, shall we say, a confronting experience if you're a Westerner used to only ever seeing meat in a nice little shrink-wrapped package. After the market, we walked to the cooking studio, which is a full professional kitchen. We made four dishes, with Bill diligently describing each step of the process -- the why along with the how. A culinary school graduate, he is extremely knowledgeable about both the ingredients and cooking techniques. And the food was, of course, delicious. This is not a "laugh and drink wine and occasionally stir a pot" kind of cooking class -- instead you will actually learn how to cook Guangdong cuisine - Cliff (5/5)

An absolutely incredible experience! Bill took us round the local market to get some ingredients and explain things to us before taking us to the cooking studio. He shared some snacks with us before showing us how to cook a few dishes which we then had a go at cooking. The food was all delicious and we learnt a lot about the ingredients as well as stories and information about Hong Kong. He also gave recommendations on things to do/places to go. I booked a half day cookery class with Bill and had a wonderful time. He very patiently chatted with me before the class to find out what I wanted to learn, and devised a special menu that really matched my interest in Cantonese cuisine. The studio itself is very modern and clean, and huge. Bill is extremely personable, and knowledgeable. But you never feel like he's bombarding you with information. Instead, he takes you through his recipes, giving you a lot of the sort of tips and tricks you don't get in cookbooks or online - the sort of knowledge you only get from years of cooking. I went with a friend who has less experience of Chinese cooking, and we both felt that we got a lot out of the experience, and certainly felt the enthusiasm to try out new ingredients and techniques that previously felt a little intimidating.
